THE ART OF RITUAL

Honoring the Burn

Lighting a BB Boutique & Co. candle is an intentional act. Proper care helps preserve the composition, support an even burn, and extend the atmosphere of each experience.

Preserving Every Experience

Proper care protects the integrity of the wax, wick, vessel, and fragrance. From the first light to the final burn, each step helps the candle perform with clarity, balance, and intention.

Ritual Notes:
  • Burn your candle on a stable, heat-safe surface.
  • Keep the candle away from drafts, children, pets, curtains, and flammable objects.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Allow the wax to cool completely before handling or moving the vessel.

The Wick: Precision Before the Burn

The wick sets the rhythm of the flame. Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch to support a cleaner, steadier flame and reduce excess smoke.

Ritual Notes:
  • Trim Before Every Light: Keep the wick short and centered before lighting.
  • Clear the Wax Pool: Remove wick trimmings or debris before each use.
  • Watch the Flame: If the flame becomes too high or flickers excessively, extinguish the candle, let it cool, trim the wick, and relight.

Establishing Melt Memory

The first burn shapes the life of the candle. Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface before extinguishing to help prevent tunneling and create a more consistent burn in future rituals.

Ritual Notes:
  • First Burn: Allow the top layer of wax to melt toward the edges of the vessel.
  • Do Not Rush the Ritual: Extinguishing too soon may cause tunneling.
  • Burn With Care: Keep each burn within a safe, recommended time window and never burn the candle to the base.

Ending the Ritual

How the flame is ended matters. Extinguish the candle with care to protect the wax, wick, fragrance, and vessel for the next experience.

Ritual Notes:
  • Use a Snuffer or Wick Dipper: Extinguish the flame gently rather than blowing it out.
  • Recenter the Wick: While the wax is still soft, carefully recenter the wick if needed.
  • Let It Settle: Allow the wax to cool and solidify before replacing the lid or moving the vessel.

Repurposing the Vessel

When the candle has completed its final burn, the vessel may continue its life as a considered object within the home. Once properly cleaned, it can be repurposed for small objects, florals, brushes, or other quiet details of daily ritual.

Ritual Notes:
  • Retain the Vessel: The vessel is designed to remain part of the atmosphere beyond the burn.
  • Clean with Care: Remove remaining wax gently and clean the vessel before reuse.
  • Repurpose with Intention: Use the vessel as a decorative object, catchall, or small floral holder.

Care Notes & FAQ

Why is my candle smoking?

A smoking candle is often caused by a wick that is too long, a draft, or debris in the wax pool. Extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch, clear the wax pool, and relight with care.

How do I clean the glass?

Once the candle has fully cooled and the remaining wax has been removed, clean the vessel gently with warm water and mild soap. Do not use abrasive tools that may scratch the surface.

How long can I burn my candle at one time?

We recommend burning your candle long enough for the top layer of wax to melt evenly, while avoiding extended burn periods. Never leave a candle unattended, and discontinue use when only a small amount of wax remains at the base.

How should I store my candle?

Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, dust, and extreme temperature changes. Replace the lid once the wax has cooled to help preserve the fragrance between uses.
